Incredible new initiative from @AVGregR folks in the think tank space should follow πŸ‘‡ https://t.co/qMgaDdBSHJ

The Mamdani administration should be commended for their transparency in disclosing thousands of documents related to the September 11th terrorist attacks on our city. ...but the city portal is clunky and difficult to query. So I built my own, replete with complete categorization of documents by department or office, OCR-extracted geospatial data, and visualizations of surface and aerosol particulate matter taken in the year after the attack.

For the last three years, I've been rebuilding a life science research, one that I left part way to work my way up the ranks in New York policymaking. Since then, I've written almost a thousand pages of LaTeX across a wide breadth of mathematics and physics textbooks I use to self-study. I don't have a human tutor to check my work, so I built a Google Docs-esque agentic LaTeX review system, natively integrated into my Neovim workflow on WSL, and with completely customizable tutor goals you hand off to your agent. https://t.co/s0QL4pcAGC

All documents are categorized by department or office and the numbered box they were located in, as designated by the city. As this is the city's organization schema and not mine, I can't attest to how intuitive the city's taxonomy is, but it is at least a level of query not offered on the city's official website.

The idea was to build something as intuitive as Google Docs, but native to my LaTeX workflow. When ordered to, the tutor will review the question you're working on (using any model of choice), and offer Google Docs comments-style markup of errors and areas of improvement. https://t.co/5vR4a8Pyzc

Much of this data was pulled using OCR, or Optical Character Recognition, a method used to convert images of handwritten or printed text into machine-readable strings. As such, there is always the chance that OCR did not return the correct data point, and all analysis on this site should be cross-referenced with the original document, which is linked to every data point.

Asbestos and dust testing was performed weekly in city schools, floor-by-floor, by ATC Associates, the Board of Education's environmental consulting contractor. I have a feature where you can graphically look at lab tests by floor and date for a given school. https://t.co/IbTadCyZTV

Many of these documents relate to environmental safety at buildings across Lower Manhattan, including lab tests performed at NYC schools. You can query by address simply by clicking on a bubble on the map, and it will return all documents related to that address. https://t.co/nPNGn5wmXN

In your TUTOR.md, you can stipulate the learning goals you would like to achieve, and what you would like your tutor to focus on. Do you fumble multiplicative factors, matrix arithmetic, or keeping signs the right way? You can tell your tutor to watch for all of these mechanical errors.

As with learning anything, personal growth is the most important outcome. One of the core features in the tutor is to have a separate progress tracker that monitors the type of feedback (errors, insufficient rigor) and points of improvement that the agent identifies. https://t.co/NLVVaYzzHG

After you've reviewed the tutor's comments, you can make fixes you deem necessary, and the tutor will verify that your corrections are indeed valid. https://t.co/xKnvxVaWfp

These models are dazzlingly good for learning math and science fundamentals at the undergraduate and graduate level. The tutor provides an excellent environment to harness these capabilities to critique your reasoning, and ensure it is on point. On each comment, you can chat with your agentic tutor and bombard it with any and all questions you have to work towards maximal understanding.

Similar to TeXpresso, as you are typesetting in Neovim (which I integrate with Luasnips), the tutor will render the LaTeX in real-time. Incomplete environments like an align won't break the viewer, and typing will auto-navigate the viewer to that section of the document. https://t.co/8MVmSOLlkm

Worked through some computations demonstrating that liquid helium is the only naturally-occurring liquid that is quantum mechanical, and a proof of the mathematical underpinnings of zero-point energy (which tells you you ALWAYS have some kinetic energy in a confined particle), and my mind is BLOWN

It is my hope that whatever information from the city's 9/11 Document Portal and my tool can be gleaned be used to continue to support the crucially important work of caring for victims and first responders who answered the highest call of duty on that day. This is dedicated to all who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for their city and country, forever and always. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ—½

I'm not a uni student anymore, and grades or GPA are quaint trivialities to me now. I continue to self-study math and physics for pure love of the game (and because computational fluid mechanics and nuclear fission are f'king awesome) Agentic AI makes the process more engaging than ever. https://t.co/s0QL4pcAGC
