- Fear. This is the first external facilitation/learning design project I'm leading alone for my job and in general. It's with a much more formal institution than I've ever worked with before. My colleague held this role the past two years, and the client was originally upset when I took his place. If I'm constantly scared I'm not good enough and trying to perform competence, there's no safety for my brain to develop my perspective on what should happen (let alone communicate it) - Working fully remote. Both with the client (where it's harder to build rapport) and with my colleagues (where I'd get more support and guidance from them if we had more informal check-ins and spaces for collaboration) - The shape of the collaboration. The client has already run this program for 5 years (with my org supporting every year) and definitely has grown as a learning designer/facilitator thanks to the capacity building of my colleagues. Sometimes I've wondered if I'm really needed. Plus, my colleague who most recently had this role said so much of his value (especially the second year he did it) was in challenging established thinking, coaching the client to figure out how she could implement changes amidst internal politics, etc. I didn't set up my dynamic with the client to be this kind of "push" one, while that's probably what's most useful to them (but also requires trust building and institutional knowledge that my colleague built up over time, along with skills I might not have yet) - Depression/life circumstances. Do you mean that people with more money get to designate a room as the living room, while those with less don't? My point is that in most other cities I've spent time in, the apartments don't give you the option to make a certain room either a living room or a bedroom. The living room is combined with the kitchen, or doesn't have a door, or you have to walk through it to get to a bedroom.
