I don’t care what people talk about with their AI — update it about your day, tell it you’re bored, whatever! — but HOW does someone get their AI to talk to them like this? I’ve seen it multiple times now? I am 100% judging this https://t.co/AuSZ4N3mwY

my favorite bit of internet culture is when a man hits on a woman and everyone floods his comment with wildly made up praise. it is so wholesome

There is so much I love about New York (food, art, ambition, opportunity, walkability) but my heart really does belong to Florida. I love the year-round heat and sunshine. I need to be at a beautiful beach every month. Palm trees are comforting to me and the sunsets are maybe the best in the world. I can’t believe it’s fall already in NY (pray for me)

Okay. This may be a Chat vs. Claude difference. My Chat immediately mirrored, whereas my Claude didn’t regardless of model or incognito mode. I almost exclusively use Claude these days and it stays business professional no matter what — which happens to be my preference! https://t.co/Fs5YJQlIwr

I’ve used AI in my personal life almost every day since ChatGPT launched, and it’s made my life significantly better. So I have to keep reminding myself that public sentiment toward AI, particularly in the US and the West, runs skeptical to negative, and for a vocal share (maybe a minority?) is outright hostile. I run global studies at work on consumer comfort with AI, so out of curiosity I polled my Instagram (60-70 people, so take with a grain of salt) to see how people felt. Just over half are using AI outside of work — about what I expected. But I also wanted to ask about Muse specifically because it’s actively positioning itself as an AI assistant for the everyday consumer, and I felt like I was getting an overly optimistic view of its impact from my X timeline. Few in my circle know about Muse or are interested in exploring it. (I’ve been testing it out and quite like it for certain things.) More interesting: a lot of people DM’d me saying they hate AI, refuse to use it, or try to limit their use if they have to. People are very concerned about its wider impact on society and the environment. Most of the content I see online about art is explicitly anti-AI and any creator who uses it gets a lot of heat. Even amongst my friends, there’s significant hostility towards AI and its active users. So I don’t know. The optimism I’m seeing about consumer-facing AI on here feels pretty disconnected from my experience online and in real life, outside of the tech world. Is this anyone else’s experience?

@ThreadbareModel @labtec901 lmao okay… tried with chat (forgot incognito but I have literally never spoken to it this way) and it mirrored, but my Claude (incognito, tried multiple models) did not I switched from chat to Claude a long time ago and I do not regret that decision lol https://t.co/OEcWjUyV3K

There was once a time, like seven years ago, when I could just walk into Katz’s during the weekend without much of a hassle, just the usual chaos inside. Now there’s an obscene line that goes around the block? At 2 PM on a weekday?!?! https://t.co/7ZwyEt1GXc

@KelseyTuoc @QiaochuYuan I think ChatGPT is much more likely to mirror than Claude. My Claude has never mirrored, it is always professional (which also happens to be my preference) https://t.co/Fs5YJQlaGT

@kasratweets not to mention overpopulation. that’s the one that really makes me wonder. a lot of people respond by saying terraforming/settling other planets is the solution but seems like that’s a ways away and we’d have to deal with some pretty serious consequences until then

@ChuTrynaDo I sincerely doubt people are doing that. I think most people are using ChatGPT, which tends to mirror users

I’m so interested in the splits within each demographic. Like my 15-year-old sister’s circle uses AI but also makes fun of it. My parents use it daily and love it — I should ask if their friends do. I’m fascinated by the vocal *anti* AI crowd, tends to be young, educated, liberal, female

Thank you!! I got the pants from a small boutique on fire island in NY, the label says Mello Los Angeles but I don’t see it on their website… they’re in the background of the boutique’s instagram post here, perhaps message and ask? They are THE comfiest pants ever https://t.co/oKiO1KrLQt

@tamarawinter BookTok is wonderful! I’ve found some gems on there. It’s true that it’s dominated by romantasy, which isn’t my thing, and sometimes there’s petty drama, which I ignore. But I’ve trained my algorithm to find some great creators focusing on classics and literary fiction.

also cultural stagnation? I don’t know maybe I’m being too shortsighted here (in general I think “solving aging” is a good goal for humanity but I do worry about consequences) but culture improves (or at least changes, we hope in a positive way) when a new generation takes over — how do we ensure that?
